For 2022, our Christmas cinema watchlist takes the theme of Christmas in New York: Except for a half dozen “essential” holiday films, we will be watching only movies that take place in New York City. Of course, since these are classic Hollywood movies, the New York setting is often only a sound-stage, not the actual streets of New York. And some of the movies have only a short verbal reference to the Big Apple, but hey even a passing reference to the world’s greatest city makes it worthy of inclusion.

Need you ask why this theme. First, we love New York and for years have spent at least one full week visiting that wonderful town. In 2022, because of all of our travels, we only stayed one night in June on the return leg of our trip to England. We did pass through four other times during our two trips to Saratoga Springs, but we never made it out of Moynihan Train Hall. So, we have missed New York. We will be back, but in the meantime, we’ll visit New York cinematically with more than 30 films that have an NYC connection.

As always, we hope you enjoy our Christmas movie watchlist and hope you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
